Am I cynical or is the feature of Exchange 2007 CCR built on the logs being kept on a hidden share with file permissions so that a second node can batch update its database?
Continuous replication places almost no CPU and input/output (I/O) load on the active node during normal operation CCR uses the passive node to copy and replay the logs. Logs are accessed by the passive node via a secured file share.
